A Night At The Opera

Groucho, Chico en Harpo vieren hier hun anarchie bot op de deftige wereld van de opera. De film bevat tal van klassieke comedy-momenten, zoals die waarin Chico en Groucho samen een contract opstellen, de scène waarin steeds meer mensen in een scheepscabine worden geduwd en de hilarische finale waar de broers een opvoering van Il Trovatore op stelten zetten. Eerste film van de Marx Brothers voor MGM die tot stand kwam onder leiding van produktiechef Irving Thalberg, die de broers discipline bijbracht. Hij stuurde de broers eerst op tournee om gags en acts voor een live publiek uit te proberen tot ze gepolijst genoeg waren om gefilmd te worden. Het resulteerde in een veel gestroomlijnder film dan hun vorige. Romantiek, liedjes, grappen en grollen worden naadloos met elkaar verweven. A Night At TheOpera was een grote hit in z'n tijd en blijft een van hun populairste films, zoniet hun beste. "Let's hear it again."
