(performance in English)

Frank Vercruyssen (STAN), Cathy Naden (Forced Entertainment), Carly Wys (De Onderneming, Kaaitheater, Victoria, etc.) and the Portuguese actor Tiago Rodrigues (who joined STAN earlier for Point Blank and Les Antigones) venture to perform, in English, one of the most famous plays by the 17th-century dramatist Racine – and his only tragedy that doesn't end in a bloodbath.

Berenice tells the story of an impossible love: the Palestinian queen Berenice is sent back to Palestine by her lover, the Roman emperor Titus, because the Roman people doesn't want him to wed a foreign queen.

Berenice will be created in January and February in Lisbon, where it will be premiered on March 1st (by Culturgest, at Casa d'Os Dias da Água). Berenice will then tour until the beginning of May in Belgium, Great-Britain, Portugal and Norway.
