It all started in 2003 when Pierre, the founder of the Moodclub parties invited Kojak, a quite talented, Madrid-based dj, to perform at the first edition at Rumba & Co, Leuven. Among other memorable memories of that first night, Pierre met Gratts while promoting the party by handing out flyers to passers-by and decorating Leuven with posters. This very soon resulted in Gratts' Moodclub residency.

Now, here we are, eight long years later, and so much to be remembered. Throughout the years, we built a steady following and we can honestly say we’re quite proud of all the top deejays that have graced the Moodclub decks. Mostly our favourite deejays, and hopefully some of yours too. The list is long: Kenny Hawkes (RIP), Luke Solomon, Demarkus Lewis who played a well impressive deejay set at Silo for our 4th b-day, The Littlemen and Kinky Movement, straight from Nottingham, UK, Slater Hogan and John Larner. Justin Long, resident of the Smartbar in Chicago, Kelvin K and many, many more, as well as a who’s who from the Belgian club scene.

Then Moodclub’s little sister appeared: Soulclub, which is exactly what happens when the Moodclub residents dig deep into their records boxes and serve you with the best of smooth soul, raw funk and basement jackin’ disco. It was Strictly Niceness' heavyweight duo Bernard Dobbeleer and DJ Kwak who kickstarted the Soulclub parties. Many more guests followed hereafter, including Mr. Critical and Raoul Lambert. And let’s not forget all our residents from over the years: founding father Pierre De La Rivière, Gratts, Igwaar, Cheez and Mo’ Stash.

For 8 Years of Moodclub we welcome you to our free party at clubSTUK with

SAN SODA (We Play House Recordings)

San Soda was raised on a parental diet of The Beatles and Queen. So it was only quite natural for him to progress into mainstream music. He joined a local radio station in his teens and pretty soon became a DJ playing bigger mainstream functions and local youth parties. At age 18 he visited the Clues bar in his hometown, quite unaware that this little place had been the breeding ground for all kinds of underground music for years. On that very night he visited, none other than Chicago legend Tyree Cooper was jacking the place up, invited by long time Clues resident and leading Belgian house DJ Red D. San Soda’s musical world was turned inside out on the spot and he hasn’t looked back since. The internet allowed him to explore this compelling new music and pretty soon he discovered Theo Parrish, Jus Ed and Omar S, which in turn led to more discoveries in Chicago house, New York deep house, soul, hip hop and funk. In short, good black music in general and the notion that music would truly rule his life from now on.

GRATTS (22tracks.com Brussels)

Gratts and his bag of records, sometimes two, have been touring for more than ten years now. After getting into electronic music more than a decade ago, he's still as much in love with it as ever, at the same time always discovering and searching for 70's and 80's blueprints.Together with friend and fellow dj Kong (Koen Galle), he is the selector for the house department of 22tracks.com Brussels, also hosting nights together.

HET COLLECT-IEF DERUYTER (R&R)

San Soda & Gratts are Het Collectief Deruyter. Whatever-they-fancy-putting-on-the-turntable, eclectic, fun and jingle filled dj fests are the name of the game.

PIERRE DE LA RIVIERE (Moodclub)
